The Pennsylvania Center for Photography Galleries

The PCP features both physical and virtual galleries. Our physical gallery provides space for both traditional prints with virtually no size restraints, as well as the technology for the digital presentation of images. The goal of the Center’s physical gallery is to host both individual and group shows of the highest quality in addition to providing a unique opportunity for Center members to display their work in a professional gallery environment.

The Center’s first show hosted the Doylestown Photography Club.

The Virtual Galleries

The Center has four virtual galleries which are listed below, each of which serves a distinctive purpose and is designed to maximize the participation of photographers at all levels. Our virtual galleries allow photographers from all parts of Pennsylvania to participate and have an opportunity to have their work displayed.

Most of the images included in the Masters and Exceptional Images Galleries are for sale through the Center for both Rights Managed digital and/or print use and as fine art prints in a variety of sizes. Prices are set by the photographer and a portion of the sale price is used to support Center operations. Obviously, we’re just starting out so the galleries will grow frequently as new images and participants are added – meaning, you should check back frequently!

The Masters Galleries (under development)

Inclusion in the Masters Gallery is juried and by invitation only to members of the Center who have constantly displayed exceptional talent and have developed a body of work that reflects a high degree of professionalism. These photographers are some of the very best in Pennsylvania and inclusion in this gallery represents a unique professional achievement. Each master photographer is provided with his or her own gallery, which provides a venue for images and personal information. All images within the galleries are individually juried to ensure the highest quality.

The Exceptional Images Gallery (under development)

You don’t need to be a pro or own a gizzilion dollars worth of equipment to make great images. The simply reality is that exceptional photography is created by photographers of all levels and they should be recognized. While the Masters Galleries are limited to those who have produced a significant body of work, the Exceptional Images Gallery contains great images that are selected from our membership at large. We are quite selective so if you get an invitation it is something to smile about.

The way this works is that Center members post their images on the Center’s Flickr page (see below)  and if the staff of the Center feels that an image meets the standards of quality for inclusion, they will contact the member with the specifics of how to do so. This is a great opportunity to have your best images displayed in a quality setting that will be actively promoted to increase sales opportunities.

The PCP’s Flickr Group

We have set up our own Flickr group which is open to all PCP members and any member can post their images there (limit one per day). This is a general gallery and while there are no “official” restrictions on what can posted, please exercise good taste and recognize that we are an open organization and have members of all ages and sensibilities. With that in mind, we do reserve the right to reject and/or remove images from the group. It is important to note that it is from the Flickr Group that images are selected for the Exceptional Image Gallery so post your best work!

Treasures of Pennsylvania

The Treasures of Pennsylvania (TOPA) website is being merged with the Center’s operations and will soon be totally redesigned. It is unique in that it is designed to promote the best places, events, and things to do in the state. As such, its posts include both photographs and descriptive text. Given the size of the state we can’t get everywhere, so if you have a favorite place or event (must be on-going and have a history) that you think should be included on the TOPA site and would like to do some writing and shooting to create a post, feel free to submit the idea to us. Please note: TOPA is a civic / just for fun venture rather than a commercial one, so we can’t pay for articles and only offer writing/photo credit and the opportunity to give something back to your community. Even when we get something for free, we reserve the right to edit both the copy and the photographs to make sure that they meet our standards.
